Auli Bugyal in Chamoli district is a highland pasture in the Garhwal Himalaya
Auli stands in an elevation range of 2,500–3,050 metres.
Auli is famous for its ski slopes located at an elevation of 3,048 metres.
Auli Bugyal is an alpine meadow of grass land that covers several hundred acres.
The line of Alpine trees of Deodar & Oak at Gorson Bugyal is a sight to behold forever.
During the winter months the mountain slopes are covered with a mantle of snow.
A short but adventurous trek of 3 kms. will lead the trekkers to Gorson Bugyal.

Auli Bugyal is magnanimously spread in the backdrop of Nanda Devi (7,817 metres), Kamet (7,756 metres), Mana Peak (7,273 metres), Dunagiri (7,066 metres), Hathi Parbat (6,727 metres), Bethantoli (6,353 metres) and Ghora Parbat peaks of the Himalayas.

13 kilometres away from Joshimath, trek to Auli passes through lush vegetation of apple orchards and oak forest. At a distance of 3 km from Auli, Gorson Bugyal is a picturesque meadow spread amidst a forest of Oak, Deodar and conifers. Gorson Bugyal transforms into an eye-catching green beauty during spring and blanketed with snow during winters. In summer season, the meadows become a perfect place to enjoy hiking and gloriously basking in the sun. It is always a pleasure to the senses to watch the distant range of snow-capped mountains. Camping is an ideal activity in Auli Gorson Bugyal that one can possibly think of. Pitching tent nearby the lush green forest line with such a beautiful surrounding of lofty mountains and sleeping on the velvet soft grass under the star-studded sky is certainly an experience of lifetime in Auli.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1:- 10 hours Journey by road from Rishikesh to Auli via Joshimath, 265 kms

  • After several hours of road travel reaching Auli campsite in the evening
  • Auli Campsite is situated at an altitude of 2744 mtrs.
  • Early dinner and Night Halt at Trekiking Camp-site

Day 2:- An entire day at Auli

The morning will kick-start with the basic curriculum of trekking

  • Introduction to Auli Gorson Trek
  • Introduction to your Trek- Leader
  • Trek Gadget check
  • Primary Health Parameter monitoring
  • Initiation to fine powder skiing

After breakfast the Trek commence at 8am in summer / 10am in winter.

Ratgaon is the last village on the trek route to Brahmatal. The mountain meadow of Brahmatal is home to organic farmer`s village of Ratgaon, Kumur, pastureland of Kopad. Excellency of these people lies in Terraced cultivation of organic grains and crops. Their principal livelihood runs on organic farmland produce.

The route from here to Kopad is the simplest of all the other popularly used trek routes. This route has been in everyday use for local people since many years hence the route is well paved.

Brahmatal is at 12 kms. from Ratgaon via Kopad. The distance between basecamp of Ratgaon to Kopad is 5 kms. and from Kopad to Brahmatal is 7 kms.

Day 3:- 3 kms. Trek from AULI TO GORSON BUGYAL

Crossing through Auli Gorson Bugyal offers the trekkers a sense of how beautiful the entire region is.

Trek to glacier that cross through the meadow of Auli Gorson Bugyal let the trekker acclimatize to the winter weather of Himalayas.

The best time to visit Auli Gorson Bugyal would be between December and Mid-June. In winter time entire valley goes under heavy snow fall leaving a white kingdom for skiers & Travellers alike. The months between March and Mid-June are ideal for the nature lovers who would like to escape the summer heat and retire at a place that is blessed with surreal landscape.

Travellers can also head towards Chattarkund, which is 1 km away from Gurso Bugyal. Chattarkund is famous for its sweet water and is located in the centre of a dense forest.

Trek to Auli Gorson Bugyal is an easy one, even the amateurs who have a prolonged dream to trek for the first time can go go for it.
