We mount the colourful North Face tents, release our tired feet from those hefty trekking shoes, and let the walking poles rest. the team cracking naughty pleasantries lift up the fire place.

The service team of Himalayan Eco-Tourism and Agriculture Development serves tangy fritters.

Camping in the jungle is not a distant dream tonight.

Day 2:- 10 kms. Up-TREK from DUNI to BHARIAKANDE

With the rising sun, green meadows have become a wholesome grazing plate where all kinds of domestic animals playfully binding with each other. Villagers from local settlement welcomes us with pot full of fresh buttermilk. Trekkers can`t wait but capture the moment of primordial lust and joy of being.

Trekkers are now on their mark to face another steep descent after that gradual ascent just at the beginning of today`s journey. The pathway to TrekXtreme leads us towards the virgin forest of Khorshu, Thuner, local variety of bamboo, Rhododendron… Splash green lush nature surrounds us with musky smell of Neyr, Guggul-Mashi, red dots of Raspberry decorates the trek-route in monsoon, we can`t but let those little red fruits surprise our lips in tender touch. A quick turn at the ridge puts the explorers in front of that tree, Bhoj-patra whose leaves has been the creator`s writing pad for the ancient text since Vedic times.

Next step is to reach the surround sounding river stream which is leaving us guessing her course through the very steep descent in the mother nature! At this moment of negotiation with our beloved mountain trails our Trekiking Trek masters say Cheese to TrekXtreme.

After we reach at the concrete bridge, an awesomely steep ascent at 45 degrees takes you to the way to reach at the mountain ridge. The  ridge is finally seen at the bent, afternoon clouds play hide & seek with the mountains, we ask if that is the road or the road has been washed away by the waterfall last monsoon! Trek leader confirms “Yes, that is the road since last monsoon, move through downward!” the team marches down slowly. After 400 meters of gliding down and there behind the clutch of clouds a long, windy, ridge from nowhere makes our way.

The farmland of Bhariakande village located at an altitude of 2550 metres, welcomes us to the destination. The picture perfect set-up of this upland refuge captivate our urban soul with colorful traditional hutments made of stone & mud. The team of Xtreme trekkers settles down at a suitable Home Stay or Campsite for the night. Freshly cooked food is served along with chit chatting with a few locals. Encouragements to the team pours in from the simple mountain community of the village.

Day 3:- 7 kms. Up-TREK from BHARIAKANDE to MARTOLI Camp-Site

A quite morning with masala Chai & Mandua ki Paratha & pickle revives our taste buds.

With phones charged at night, today we let our photographer self capture the surrounding ambience. Documenting this rarely visited trail designed by the team of Trekiking  is a pleasure trip through the lens.

On our way we witness many huts with permanently closed doors underlining the issue of deserted villages of Uttarakhand. Here the villagers have mostly left the village to settle at another location closer to connectivity to road, health-care and education.

Walking by the ridge for 2 and half hours we reach at the foot hill of our tonight`s destination, a flowery welcome settles our mood to continue for arduous uphill hiking till Martoli camp-site.

Mystical snowline of Himalaya reveals herself bit by bit in front of our eyes in pictorial ecstasy…

To reach Martoli the trekkers pass through dense jungle of Pine, Khorshu, Rhododendron, Thuner. Martoli is the pastoral upland where locals spend 2 to 3 months post monsoon season to graze their herds. Make shift shelters for the animals are seen scattered here & there.

The team reaches Martoli camp-site at 3000 mtrs. by early afternoon hours. Setting sun from Martoli top enthralls the shutterbug trekkers. Temperature dips in quick succession as evening falls in. We gather by the fireplace, team leader gives a route break-up for next few days, freshly cooked organic variety of Rajma Chawl from the ration of Himalays`s Organic product is served. Another nights rolls by.

Day 4:- 10 kms. Up-TREK from MARTOLI Camp-Site to DULAM Camp-Site

Keeping that single shepherd’s hut to our right the trail will go up gradually, Once at the meadows on a high incline, begin your steep descent on narrow mountain walkway passing through ridges hovering from both sides. At the end of such an amazingly thrilling trek trailing we settlein a long walk through the pastureland for the next couple of hours.

The mules carrying our camping material & luggage moving in synchronized rhythm  through the serpentine ridge can be seen from a distant aerial viewpoint. Ever smiling farmer`s couple let us fix the destination by pointing their fingers towards the green enclosure of Dulam Camp-site. Few sips of hot coffee and discussion about the vertical height of the very route enthral our soul like a child in desperation.

Right at the midway of the ridge an exhilarating visual arena beholds us. Right on your left an arena of snow crowned mountains are erected as if from those ancient folklore. Ali Bugyal, Kaali Daak, Mt Devtoli,  Mt Mrigtoli, Mt Mektoli, and Kaalitaal are all decked up to seduce our senses. A dot on spot is finally achieved for that long awaited lunch break.

An eclectic multi-dimensional Himalayan Eco-tourism & Agriculture Development  leads the traveller to Dulam Camp-site on a small patch of meadow by the Oak forest . The team lands at Dulam Camp-site, located on 2650 metres. Another night in the lap of Himalaya passes by at the camping.

Day 5: 10 kms. Up-TREK from DULAM Camp-Site TO BAGZI BUGYAL Camp-Site

Bugyals are alpine pasture lands, or meadows, in higher elevation range beyond 3,000 metres of the Himalayas. These alpine meadows are distinguished by the thick layer of velvety grass “Buggi Ghas” spread over a vast terrain either flat or sloped.  Bagzi Bugyal is such an amazing pastoral green land laid at the top of Himalaya at an altitude of 3250 metres.

From faraway upland a herdsman`s flute blowing in sync with chirping birds, makes the steep stairway a call to reach that celestial highland. On the way to Bagzi Bugyal random meeting with large herds of healthy cattle such as sheep & goats, cows & bulls, horse & mules is a feast for the eyes.

The herds woman talk about a time, 60-70 years ago, when tigers (Bagh in the local language) used to freely roam along the meadows, the herdsmen themselves fall pray to these cats. To mark this particular set of Bugyal , they gave it name– Bagji Bugyal. The literal translation being tiger meadows. Unfortunately, the tigers disappeared.

Bagzi Bugyal denotes a never ending journey through infinite pastoral landscape keeping the mighty zeniths of Himalayas all around.

Holding our last breathe for those few final steps, wish fulfilling moment of each trekker comes in just there. And here comes a castle of cloud from the thin air leading you by holding your hand through zillions of multi-coloured flowers in wilderness.

Traveller`s eyes hover in 360 degrees submerged in awestruck beauty of Mount Trishuli, Nanda Devi, Nanda Ghungti, Khamil Peak, Brahmatal range… Our eyes can`t get enough of this magnanimous grandeur! Tears of joy rolls down letting the soul fly endless.

We stay back for the night at the Bugyal of Bagzi to live in and experience the surreal nocturnal ambience of high land Himalaya soaking in golden light, embracing zillions of flowers,

The Bagji Bugyal Trek confines one’s heart with the sprawling colours of nature bedded over the lush green meadows. The entire stretch  displays a vast natural gallery of wild flowers and varied species of Himalayan trees.

Now is a day of walk through the bugyal, step by step steep decent towards forest track leading to the meadow of Nowali. We witness the Land of Rohdodrendron and Khorshu trees since thousands of years bearing the landmark of the trekkers who mark their way for the fellow travellers. We reach a junction where the arrow is indicating both sides of the route towards our destination. Trekiking Trek manager suggests the shorter & easier one to trek down, the team wanted it longer, chose the one at the left only to prove that Himalaya is mysterious at every nook & corner.

It is time for a packed lunch break at the bugyal . Khichdi made of Organic red rice and fried eggs happens to be the treat for trekker`s hungry stomach.
